Winter Palace and museum scale
The Hermitage joins the Winter Palace with one of the world’s great museum collections: over three million items under one roof. Old Masters route
The Old Masters route can move through Italian Renaissance rooms, Dutch and Flemish painting, Spanish masters and selected French galleries. The Italian collection fills 30 rooms, crowned by Renaissance masters — Leonardo da Vinci’s Madonnas among them. Among the Hermitage’s 150 Spanish canvases are works by Ribera, Velázquez and Goya. The Flemish rooms include Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony van Dyck and their circle.
Rooms beyond the obvious path
Beyond the headline paintings, the Hermitage holds European applied art, ceramics, porcelain, armour, carriages and objects with their own stories. The route can be customized with the General Staff Building for Impressionism and post-Impressionism, or with the Gold Room and Diamond Room for jewelry, ancient gold and court collections. These are planned extensions, shaped around access, timing and your interests.
European collections
The Gold Room and Diamond Room bring a different scale of detail: Scythian gold, Greek antiquities, gems, tiaras, orders and jewelry once connected with court and aristocratic collections. General Staff, Diamond Room or Gold Room
