If you are willing to enjoy the exquisite interiors of the famous aristocratic family mansion, the Yusupov Palace on the Moika River is an ideal place. The museum comprise a lot of small and large halls, luxury and architectural harmony of which impress the most fastidious tourists.
In 1830 the palace was purchased by the prince Boris Yusupov and became the favorite residence of this influential noble family, which owned the palace for five generations. The Yusupov Palace is one of the few aristocratic mansions of St. Petersburg where original interiors have been preserved. The ceremonial rooms, the fascinating home theatre and luxurious living quarters of the Yusupov family still retain the warmth and charm of the former owners. Beautiful artistic interiors equally welcome history, art, music and theatre enthusiasts.
One of the most significant historical events that happened in the Yusupov Palace was the murder of Grigory Rasputin – a Siberian peasant, who was considered “the elder”, “the men of God” and who was very close to royal family during the reign of Nicholas II. The tragedy took place on the night of 17 December 1916 in the living quarters of the young prince Felix Yusupov. Today there is an exposition in these rooms and you’ll certainly have a chance to explore it during the visit to the palace.

Living Quarters
